Been Your Art

July 1st, 2009 by Jared

Metaphorically Yours [vol 2] is officially finished!  To your right is a little track called Been Your Art, one of our favorites from the record.

So, what is Metaphorically Yours [vol 2]?  How does it compare/relate to [vol 1]?  And when can you get your hands on a copy?  Initially, [vol 2] was meant to be an extension of [vol 1] - meaning you could sandwich the two together and have a “full length album”.  [vol 1] was an attempt to rid ourselves of some old songs we had been playing for a while, and [vol 2] would be the new material, the new Bombs Into You.  In the end, the two feel fairly different to us.  Some aspects of the band present on [vol 1] are not present on [vol 2], and vise versa.  So we like to think of them as two seperate works that show different sides of the band, and combine to end a chapter in our lives.

In the coming weeks, we’ll be announcing plans for a cd release show in Portland, and we’ll be unveiling [vol 2] on this site.  We’ll give you the option to download the record for free, and/or buy limited edition individually numbered CD copies of both [vol 1] and [vol 2].  We’ll also work to eliminate the terms “EP”, “Full-Length”, and “Single” from our vocabulary.  Fuck those distinctions, they’re meaningless now.

Much more soon…

Mixing

June 11th, 2009 by Jared

We’re finishing up preliminary mixes of Metaphorically Yours [volume 2] today.   John Askew of Faux Hoax has returned to mix and help us polish it up a bit, and things are sounding pretty rad.  We’ll definitely be getting this thing out sometime in July.  Preview tracks will be on this site soon!  Keep your ears open.

Two Upcoming Shows, New EP on the Way

May 21st, 2009 by Gage

Bombs Into You has a couple of shows coming up soon. The first is this Wednesday night at 9pm sharp at the Someday Lounge. Mackintosh Braun invited us to play with them and we are very much looking forward to it! The next show is at Ash Street Saloon June 5th with our friends Woven from L.A., the Oblik and In My Opinion. I’m excited about playing a new song called “Fighting Over Elevators.” I will actually put the guitar down on the stage and play my delay pedal knobs as much as I’m playing the strings. It’s pretty sweet!

We’ve been hard at work on the new EP.. Jared recorded most of the vocals last week with Mark at Dig and he will finish the rest Tuesday. Besides that, we just have a few smaller parts to record (cello #3, a few adjusted guitar and piano parts) and we’re ready to mix! We’ll be employing the talented and versatile John Askew as our mixer again. If everything stays on schedule, expect to have that in your ears end of July.

Update 5/31: Woven dropped out of this Friday’s Ash Street show but the show is still on with the rest of the lineup. Come rock out with us!

MYV2 Sessions…

April 28th, 2009 by Jared

Currently, BIY is pushing towards our first Metaphorically Yours [vol 2] deadline.  At this point, we’ve got six tracks that we’re hoping to include on the disc.  Nate laid down all his parts a few weeks ago, and Gage and I are feverishly working out all the guitars, synths, and vocals.  We’re using pretty much the same process and personnel that we used to record [vol 1], but what’s really cool about doing a follow up EP is that we can solidify our process better, and avoid making some of the mistakes that we made with [vol 1].  It allows us some perspective, so that we can ultimately make better work.

We’re now hammering out all the little details, toying with vocal effects, arranging string parts, and trying to make everything feel right and fit together like the puzzle that it is.  It’s shaping up to be really good, and is definitely the best music that I’ve ever been involved in making.

As deadlines are often evasive, we’ll see if we can get it out by the end of July, which is what we’re hoping.  At this point, we think that’s a strong possibility.  We’re looking forward to everyone hearing it….

We’ve got a couple of shows coming up at the end of May/beginning of June in Portland, so if you can make it out to those you should.  We’ve got some new material to show off, and some cool new surprises for the masses to hear.

Ok, back to Gage’s basement for now…
